The members of our Chapter should assist in fostering avenues along which diverse multi-disciplinary research and teaching can be realized at the University of Florida. These avenues are:
- Publicizing to the community, academic and non-academic, those activities supported and promoted by the Florida Chapter of Sigma Xi.
- Involving the Chapter membership and other interested non-Chapter persons in stimulating discussions about multi-disciplinary scientific activities.
- Assisting in the promotion and conduct of the regional, state and international Science and Engineering Fairs through financial support, judging, the training and teaching of teachers and the recognition of awardees.
The University of Florida Chapter of Sigma Xi promotes:
- Tolerance and appreciation of research and teaching in all fields of our diverse membership and the communication of their ideas.
- The national and international reputation of the University of Florida. The networking of the University of Florida with other institutions, state, national and international, is critical.
- Academic excellence in research and teaching and the fostering of an appreciation and respect for all scholarly endeavors.
- Encouraging the use of technological advances in the fields of science and engineering and the wise and careful use of these advances in our environment.
