Membership Nominations:
We encourage you to nominate candidates for membership at any time! It is important to nominate qualified graduate or undergraduate students, as well as faculty and scientific staff, new or veterans, for Sigma Xi membership.
Details on who is eligible for membership to Sigma Xi are provided below. Please find the Membership Nomination Form through this link. A check for associated costs, made payable to “Sigma Xi” must accompany each nomination, which should be sent to the Chapter Secretary.
The Sigma Xi costs are:
New Associate or Full Members: $128 ($100 annual fee, $20 Initiation Fee, $8.00 UF Chapter Fee)
Student Membership: $63 ($35 annual fee, $20 Initiation Fee, $8.00 UF Chapter Fee)
Promotion from Associate to Full Member: $10 if dues are current.

Who is Eligible for Membership in Sigma Xi?
Each year the Society initiates more than 5,000 new members. More than 170 members have won the Nobel Prize. There are three levels of membership.
Full Membership is open to any individual who has shown noteworthy achievement as an original investigator in a field of pure science. As defined by Sigma Xi, noteworthy achievement is evidenced by a minimum of two publications, which could include refereed first-author journal articles, patents, written reports, books, or a thesis or dissertation. This may include 2 full author publications, one of which could be a dissertation or thesis.
Associate Membership is open to any individual who has through initial research achievement in a field of pure or applied science, shown aptitude for research, which is expected in due course to lead the fulfillment of the requirements for full membership.
Student Membership is open to any full-time, degree-seeking student at an institution of higher learning. Student membership has to be renewed annually.
